EVENT PREVIEW: 2006 Melges 17 Spring Regatta Ramp-up

10 MAY 2006 ? The 2006 Melges 17 Spring Regatta is set to take place this weekend in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, with the legendary Lake Geneva Yacht Club playing the role of hospitable host and serving as part of the dramatic backdrop. This event is set to be one of the most exciting M17 events this year as fifteen, to as many as twenty Melges 17s are expected to race.

Some of the hottest Melges 17 racers are slated to attend, a select few are traveling from as far away as Denver, Colorado. A few competitors have opted to arrive early for practice and a test sail on Friday, intensifying just how serious these racers are about going fast, having fun and winning all at the same time! This will definitely be a nice warm-up to the second 2006 Melges 17 National Championship slated for this coming Fall, September 23-24 also, being held at LGYC. After practice, the bar will be open and appetizers will be served in the Commodore Lounge as registration begins at 4 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m. Registration will continue on Saturday morning starting at 8 a.m. and a skipper's meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Continental breakfast's will be served as will Saturday lunch and dinner, and Sunday lunch. The warning gun will sound at 11:00 a.m. signaling the commencement of the first of several races continuing through Sunday.
