Harry Melges IV Leads After First Day Of Competition At I.L.Y.A. Championship

16 July 2011

A beautifully clear day gave way to a few sprinkles to cool off the sailors. The sun returned and made for a picture perfect ending to the race day. Four races were sailed in a moderate 7 to 10 mph southwest breeze. Ben Biwer played the right side of the course on race two. It paid off and resulted in a win. The rest of the races belonged to the father son team of Harry Melges III and Harry Melges IV. Sounds like the fleet is enjoying the Oshkosh hospitality tonight.
