Twenty-Three Melges 17s Usher In A Successful Regatta At Grand Rapids
19 June 2011
Quick note from Eric Wynsma — On behalf of Grand Rapids Yacht Club, a very sincere THANK YOU to everyone who travelled so far to attend our first circuit-points Melges 17 regatta. GRYC considers this a great success, with 23 boats in attendance and more reasons than ever for locals to join the fun -- it's easy to see that the 17 is the right boat for Reeds Lake !
Many of our existing club members have noticed the 17 and events like this only help create more energy.
Special thanks to Carl Reid for organizing the event, Danielle Ralston for managing all the meals, and RC Danny Chappell and his caretaker team for running the races.
Seven races were sailed in ideal conditions and sunshine, average windspeed around 7 knots, with enough 30-degree shifts to keep everyone interested.
GRYC thanks the Melges 17 class for allowing us to host this important regatta, and we look forward to seeing all of you at the Westerns as well as in White Lake for the 2011 Nationals! Be sure to Register Now, if you have not already!
