20+ Expected for the Melges 17 Spring Championship 12-13 May

11 MAY 2007 ? More than twenty Melges 17s with a possible thirty are expected this weekend at the 2007 Melges 17 Spring Championship. Hosted by the Lake Geneva Yacht Club in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin this event will be amazing!

As of Thursday afternoon more than twenty teams had arrived ? a day and a half before the event. Last year the M17s witnessed a fleet ten boats strong ? this year the number has nearly tripled. This evening the M17 sailors ? some that have traveled from as far away as Colorado and beyond enjoyed cocktails at the beautiful LGYC is prepped to receive each and every competitor ? as many as 60+ sailors.

Practice racing took place earlier in the day sailed under partly sunny skies and a rippin' 10-15 knots of a Northeast breeze. Everyone is looking ahead to a tremendous event that begins tomorrow officially, then as a final day of racing on Sunday.
