New Melges 17 Fleets Are Forming In Indiana and Michigan

19 October 2009

The Melges 17 is the fastest, sportiest compact Scow around and things are really taking hold in the Midwest. Following a very successful demo weekend at the beginning of the month, new fleets are forming and taking off in both Indiana and Michigan.

Indianapolis knows what’s fast and recently, its eyes and attention looked favorably to another major speed player — the Melges 17. Five new boats have recently made the Indianapolis Sailing Club on Geist Reservoir in Indianapolis, IN home.

The state of Michigan has always been a hot bed for the Melges 17 too. The International Melges 17 Class Association welcomes more as four boats can now be seen sailing at the Lansing Sailing Club, AKA the home of MSU! Three of the four Melges 17s are brand new arrivals.

These newly formed fleets are a welcomed sign as shortly the 2010 Melges 17 racing schedule is set and secured.
